Jesus Loves Trust Falls

One thing I've learned over the years is that Jesus wants you to rely fully on Him. Not only are we to see that He has provided all that we have, we are to acknowledge that He has never let a legitimate need of ours go unmet. Sometimes something...

There are times in our lives when your spouse will get called to do something within the ministry or the kingdom of God. Sometimes that calling will take you outside of your own comfort zone. It can be something as simple as having people over for dinner, or going to a...

I woke up at five a.m. I sat there in the living room nursing on my coffee and hoping that it would wake me up even more than usual. The kids were off today and tomorrow would be Thanksgiving so I thought I would get in one more day of early morning writing work before...

I was reading in Exodus lately... I am in the beginning of a read the Bible in a year plan. I will be honest and say that these are the days I struggle with. It's horrible to say but I can get past begats but when we come to every...single...detail about building thing...

I need a day of rest... I need a day of rest. I had even joked in the past that I wanted to create a day that came after Sunday that was called "Resterday" that would truly be devoted to rest and you literally wouldn't be required to leave bed all day long.

I had a real...

I have heard this phrase so much that it isn't even funny. Life Sucks. I have heard this from all walks of life, but I have to say that it surprises me more when I hear it coming from Christians. I think sometimes we think about the fact that we aren't supposed to be o...

Stupid little quizzes are the way that I waste my time these days. You know the ones. They pop up on Facebook and tell you to find out what movie you would be living in. Which Disney villain are you, etc. I admit that I spend way too much time on these.

It was at five i...

It's inevitable, we all do it. We all tend to look at someone who seems to have it all together and we wonder why we can't be like them. We may even envy others who do something so much better than we do.

I personally have looked at mothers of large families who seem to...

Have you ever walked through a store with your husband? Sometimes you will fall behind as his steps get bigger and more purposeful. Sometimes you lead because you know where you are heading and what you're looking for. Occasionally you will fall in sync and walk togeth...

I was reading a devotional the other day and something struck me as funny. Every mom knows that we live in a world of mom shaming. Back in the day (do I sound old yet...) we didn't have such quick access to others through social media. Mom shaming was mostly in smaller...

Welcome to my home! Nestled in the heart of the Appalachian mountains. Sit a spell and we’ll drink a cup of coffee on the back porch. I’ll tell you all about my zany adventures in everything from cooking, gardening, and canning. It doesn’t always go right, and when it doesn’t you’ll get to laugh along with me.
You’ll learn all about my whacky family...all SIX of us! From my super hero-writer hubby, to my Little Boss Man toddler and don’t even get me started on my three teenagers. The Band Geek, The Comedian, and the Emo Chick keep me on my toes every day. There’s never a “normal” moment in this house. Or even a quiet moment for that matter. But my heart is full of love. And my cup has LOTS of coffee!
We’ll occasionally have a serious moment when I’ll share my thoughts on the Bible and lessons I’m learning along the way in my relationship with Jesus. Sometimes just things that come to my mind that I’d like to share.
So come on in, kick off your shoes and welcome to Appalachian Autumn!
